A message to prospective Coastal Gardeners members from a former Co-President:
I truly enjoy belonging to Coastal Gardeners. We have a terrific group of members who share gardening ideas and work together on community service projects to impact our community and make our world a better place. We donate our time to help seniors at Roxanna Cheer Center, collect roadside trash with DelDOT Adopt-a-Highway, and design and plant gardens at Dagsboro Town Hall and Delaware Seashore State Park to enhance the natural beauty of coastal Delaware. I recently worked with my fellow Coastal Gardeners and members of Delaware based Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids to build the vegetable gardens at Phillip Showell Elementary School in Selbyville. That project is especially fulfilling because the students are taught first-hand about how to plant and care for a garden full of seasonal, nutritious vegetables. Since Coastal Gardeners was founded in 2017, our club has grown to 40 members strong. During COVID, we continued to meet using ZOOM video-conferencing technology for our monthly meetings and programs. Now that’s determination. I would like to welcome our newest members, thank our current members, and encourage you to join as well. I guarantee digging in the dirt really does wonders to lift your spirits. Come dig with us!
